EIN Working breakfast on "Quo vadis EU-US trade relations ?"

City:
Brussels
Date:
12 July 2017
Time:
08:15-09:30

On the 12th of July, the European Ideas Network (EIN) will be hosting a debate on the future of trade relations between the European Union and the United States of America. In the past few years, the two historical allies and trade counterparts have been looking to further their cooperation on trade and investment. History has shown us the advantages of working together for a prosperous future. By the end of 2016, after more than three years and 15 rounds of negotiations, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) has been put on hold. Following the uncertainty created by the election of Donald Trump’s Administration, with its known protectionist approach on international trade, this large and ambitious trade deal between the two major global players stalled. However, recent statements from the US Administration seemed to have revived hope on the future of the agreement. This EIN debate will focus on the ongoing uncertainty over the future cooperation between the EU and the US, and the scenarios to be considered for our future trade and investment relationship.
